Wire and felt guiding systems
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Lateral fabric oscillation is a frequent phenomenon that must be counteracted with specific guiding systems. Guiding systems are designed to keep fabric running in the centre of the rolls that support it. A minimum displacement of one end of the guide roll, in the proper direction, corrects the fabric run.
Keeping fabric in the center position means:
- prevent spillage and damage;
- reduce edge wear;
- increase fabric lifetime;
- optimize machine productivity.
CONTROL AND ALARM PALMS
Fabric control and guide activation are done through a palm valve – pressure balance valve or proportional bleed valve – where a paddle feels the fabric edge position. The valve controls the air flow to the automatic guide actuators.
The safety of the guiding system is enhanced by the use of an alarm palm, where electric sensors alarm the operator when excessive fabric run-out occurs.
